Welcome to Vacation 2011

Some of you may remember the days when we bored one another with slide shows of our vacations, complete with blow-by-blow narratives.  Then technology moved onto film and Poloroid snaps that filled notebooks and albums with sticky pages or pockets.  With the advent of digital photography came self-published photobooks and now blogs.  So if reading about other folks' vacations bores you, please, by all means, skip the next several posts.

I'll try to do this vacation journal a bit differently, that is thematically, not chronologically.  So, dear reader, you will see lots of shots of flowers or architectural details or church interiors lumped together.  This means that I won't always remember where we tooks these photos or what day, but hey, who cares?  Travel is about fun and beauty and discovery.  And it's the little differences (such as packaging or what we put in our churches or outside of our houses or even into our mouths) that make travelling so interesting, because we are all different...and we're all the same too.

That being said, let's get started.
